Foundation Routine for Acne

Foundation Routine for Acne

If your skin is acne-prone, you’ve probably faced this dilemma: to cover or not to cover. Sometimes, makeup can make matters worse, but if you’re looking for a foundation routine that not only covers up blemishes but also prevents and heals them, then look no further. Follow along as Kristen, our LovelySkin Aesthetician, shows you how to apply foundation products perfectly suited for acne-prone skin.

Start by cleansing and toning your skin to create a clean base for your makeup. Then, you’ll be ready to moisturize. Kristen likes to use SkinMedica Ultra Sheer Moisturizer because it contains hyaluronic acid to bind moisture to the skin and vitamin C to even out tone. This moisturizer is oil-free so it won’t clog pores or aggravate existing acne.

To prepare skin for makeup, Kristen puts YOUNGBLOOD Mineral Primer on the back of her hand and applies it with a foundation brush. This lightweight primer smooths the appearance of fine lines and large pores to create an even surface for your foundation. Plus, it’s packed with vitamins and minerals to protect your complexion from environmental damage.

Kristen then uses jane iredale Disappear to conceal blemishes. Put a little on the back of your hand and use a camouflage brush to apply it to any blemishes. Use your fingertip to blend it in. This concealer contains green tea extract to help calm acne as well as conceal it.

With her face primed, Kristen applies Oxygenetix Oxygenating Foundation, which is formulated to allow your skin to breathe. Put a little foundation on the back of your hand and apply it with a foundation brush.  Formulated for sensitive skin, this foundation is safe for anyone with acne, rosacea, psoriasis or eczema. It’s free of fragrance, dyes, oil and parabens so it won’t cause irritation. It also offers SPF 25 protection and is water-resistant.

With your acne covered, your complexion is ready for the rest of your routine.
