Dysport/Reloxin is approved! New Botox Competitor!
We are very pleased that the FDA has approved Dysport (known as Reloxin during its clinical trials at Skin Specialists), a new competitor to Botox. This new injectable medicine lasts longer and takes effect more quickly than Botox. In our clinical trials it performed quite well, with some patients seeing effects that lasted up to 2 years (although 4 months is more typical).
If you are looking for a longer lasting form of Botox, I'd recommend you make an appointment as soon as Dysport is available. We expect to have Dysport in mid to late June, and will inform you immediately via email if you sign up here for updates. While we don't know the exact cost yet, it won't cost any more than Botox, and most likely will allow some introductory offers initially.
Sign up here for more information as it becomes available.

Skin Cancer Month is May - Take Stock of Your Moles!
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and we are happy to note more discussion of the problems that sunlight and indoor tanning can cause for people. We are seeing an epidemic of skin cancer, and are now observing skin cancers in teenagers, something that was unthinkable years ago. This has been brought about by the use of indoor tanning for kids and adults alike. Just this week, I took care of a woman in her early 20s with skin cancer, and this is not an uncommon occurrence anymore.
If you have any unusual moles or growths, give our office a call at (402) 334-7546 to schedule an appointment, or if you live outside of the Omaha area, see your dermatologist!

New Anthelios 60 and Heliocare Sale
Just in time for the summer, we have two items that are great for saving your skin from the sun. Anthelios 60 is the best sunscreen for acne- prone skin I have ever seen. It is a very thin liquid that protects while not causing breakouts. It has a revolutionary new UVA protection formula that is patent-pending and covers your skin very well without acne problems!
Additionally, we have a huge sale on Heliocare until the end of the month. Heliocare is the pill that helps protect your skin from the sun. We frequently recommend it for our vitiligo patients, as it also seems to improve this condition. It is particularly helpful for people who are out in the sun for long periods of time (band camp, football practice, etc) and can't reapply as often as they want.
Go to www.LovelySkin.com/sunscreens for a list of recommended sunscreens, including these two top sellers!

Skincare Tip of the Month: Psoriasis and Alcohol Intake
A recent study has shown a relationship between psoriasis and alcohol intake, something that dermatologists have long suspected, and now is finally being proved. While there are many factors that play a role in psoriasis, alcohol use is one of the easiest to control and should to be stopped in order to get psoriasis to respond quickly to treatment.
At our research arm, Advanced Skin Research Center, we are currently recruiting for two psoriasis trials, and we offer the latest treatments for this condition. If you or a friend have psoriasis, please register with our study department, to have them call if and when an appropriate clinical occurs.
