Dear Patients and LovelySkin Customers,
As the year closes, I enjoy taking the time to reflect on the accomplishments of the year, the support from patients, customers and family, and our amazingly dedicated staff. We have been extremely fortunate to have grown significantly in many ways this year. We have added several new staff members, patients and customers for the store and website. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our staff and supporters.
This year was especially notable as my son, Daniel, and I completed development and released our very own FixMySkin Healing Balms with 1% hydrocortisone. It's been a wonderful experience to have developed these balms with him over the last 5 years and it has been gratifying beyond belief. Over the last month, we have been thrilled to hear from so many folks who used the balms and found relief and healing for their conditions ranging from eczema and psoriasis to dry skin and chapped lips.
The new LovelySkin retail store has been successful in its first full year. The sales team have done a great job and made it all seem easy, although I know it wasn't.
Although our nursing staff at the clinic and research arm has grown greatly this year, yet we are saying goodbye to my longest-term employee and head of research, Rhonda Jansen. Rhonda is engaged and will be married this May. While we all will miss Rhonda greatly, she is entering a new stage of her life and I am very happy for her. Several nurses have been married, have had babies, or are currently expecting, which is a wonderful joy to all of us.
Our spa was renamed LovelySkin Spa (formerly Aesthetica) with the advent of the new 20,000 square foot retail store, LovelySkin. We were excited that the spa won both the Best Spa in the Reader Poll in 2011 and entered the Winners Circle of Best of Omaha for 2012 (its first time ever!).
I was fortunate and honored to be voted one of America's Best Doctors by US News and World Report and continue to win the Best Dermatologist and Best Cosmetic Surgeon awards for Omaha in two tabulations this year. I always appreciate these accolades and never take them for granted. Thank you to all of you who voted.
On a more personal note, my son, Daniel, has entered college and is attending one of the 7-year medical programs (hopefully to follow in my footsteps). With a bit more time on her hands, my wife, Nancy, has devoted more time to the practice and the website. It is wonderful to see her growing in her role as VP of LovelySkin. My daughter, Claire, is a junior in college and spent a semester abroad in France. She also worked at the website during the summer as a writer. I loved seeing her involved as the family involvement is a great source of pleasure for Nancy and me.
I wish you and your families success and happiness in the year to come. My staff and I deeply appreciate your loyalty over the many years and hope to always live up to your expectations by providing you the best patient care and customer service. If you ever have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to reach out to us at any time.
Thank you for an amazing year.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Joel Schlessinger MD, FAAD, FAACS
