Sensitive Skin: An Interview with Dr. Schlessinger
"What is the science behind sensitive skin?"
There's really no science per se, but many approaches, depending on the disease state. For example, some patients feel they have sensitive skin, but they have eczema, a medical condition. For this condition, the moisturizers used have to be very well chosen to avoid reactions. We recommend CeraVe or Vanicream for these individuals. There are many other diseases like seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, psoriasis and other, inherited conditions that cause issues that can appear to be 'sensitive skin' but aren't. For those who are truly sensitive or allergic to certain products, the best approach is to go to a dermatologist for patch testing, a three to four day process that involves testing for the most common allergens by wearing patches on the back for two days and then interpreting them on day three or four.

The results are in and, while no one predicted all four teams and the winner correctly, 10 people picked 3 teams correctly and 3 doubled their coupon. 41 picked 2 teams correctly and 5 doubled their coupon. 155 picked 1 team correctly and 22 doubled their coupon.
This contest was a huge amount of work for our IT team, but they enjoyed the ability to provide a fun contest for our customers' March Madness with the possibility of earning some free products in the process. Thanks to all who participated!

Acne Study
We are currently screening patients for a pediatric acne study. The medication being tested is a topical medication vs. placebo. In order to qualify, subjects must be 9-11 years of age and have a minimum of 20 acne bumps (non-inflammatory/inflammatory) on the face. The study will last for 12 weeks and will require 7 follow up visits to our office. Qualified participants will be compensated for their participation.

Eyelash Growth Study
In the near future, we will be participating in a study testing a topical solution to increase eyelash growth. The study will last for 12 weeks and will require a total of 7 visits to our office. In order to qualify, you must be between the ages of 19-45, have clinical evaluation of short or thin upper lashes, can not be pregnant, nursing or planning a pregnancy, and must be willing to refrain from other prescription, cosmetic or over the counter eyelash enhancer products for the duration of the study.
