Wonderful Product!!

I had my current hairdresser apply this and we were both very pleased with the results. I am an African American woman in my 40's and have been using relaxers for years. I wanted to use a healthier no-lye relaxer on my hair. My hair retained a lot of moisture with this product, and I could tell the relaxer was very mild on my head, comparatively to previous relaxers that my hairdresser has used. For the first time I bought Index 2, as my hair is "normal," however my hairdresser encouraged me to try Index 1 the next time to see my results with that, as my hair processed with Index 2 under the recommended time. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars just because it is on the expensive side for a relaxer kit; otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. I do understand the quality of ingredients used and realize that needs to be taken into account; however it would still be nice if the product were a little less expensive. However, I like knowing that I am making a healthier relaxer investment for my health, so I am willing to sacrifice the additional money. I will be purchasing the Index 1 for my next touch-up and I will post another review comparing the two products then.

My hairdresser noticed the difference right away!

I just got back from my salon and my hairdresser noticed my hair looking GREAT.. her words exactly. The application was easy, and no offensive smell with this product. This is a definite plus, since the formadehyde products are awful smelling. The only issue I had, is the white in my hair turned yellow. I googled and found that applying Apple Cider Vinegar to be the solution to removing the yellow. Turned out perfect.

I am always looking for gluten free products for my hair and this is it! At one point, I had to go natural because I couldn't find a gluten free product, but that wasn't working for me. No breakage

I have used Phyto Specific for about 12 years--alternating between Phyto 1 & Phyto 2--and would never consider another relaxer for my hair. Although pricey, it is worth it because I can expect consistent results each time I use it. It leaves my hair silky smooth. No breakage or scalp irritation. However, I am taking off 1 star and giving it a 4 only because of the slight smell.

Amazing on my 4c hair

4c girls! If you can't get this, then don't bother with relaxers at all

I loved my fro, but when it gets too long the ends tend to tangle up. I don't like short hair even though I enjoyed having it for 2 years I decided that I needed a more manageable change that wouldn't take too much time away from more important activities. So I decided to go back into relaxing except I wanted the most affordable professional grade that mitigated the damage done by chemical processing. I've finally found it in the Phytospecific line. I've been researching this particular product for 3 years, and for three years I've hesitated. Now I wish that I could turn back time to when I actually considered buying this because it's the least destructive hair relaxer and most effective I've ever tried. My hair is manageable, easier to style without the use of irons. All I need is my blow dryer, round toothed comb and a wooden bristled round brush and my hair looks just as smooth and polished with tons of movement and volume. If you have porous hair like mine then yes, it works fast so as soon as the smoothing application was done I had to wash it out 2 minutes later. If you have tightly coiled afro textured hair it's important to not straighten hair completely because you risk not only breakage but you'll get hair that has no movement at all. Just saying. Bye bye fairy knots.
