Not matte anymore
I’ve used this for a long time. They changed something about it. It did used to be matte and smooth in consistency. I still use it bcuz fortunately the dewy look is in now and so I don’t mind too much that part. But if ur looking for matte then this isn’t it anymore sadly. Also the texture isn’t smooth anymore, there is a grit to it. Honestly when I first started purchasing it through lovely skin I though maybe they sent me an off market one (sorry LS I’ll never doubt u again), so I bought it directly from Obagi and it was the same. I still use it bcuz I haven’t found anything else yet. But I’m giving it 3 star bcuz it’s not matte and the gritty texture.

This product is not for me. I was looking for a daily sunscreen to wear over my moisturizer and under my makeup. It was too greasy and made my face way too shiny. This product will probably be good for the beach or pool but not for daily use, I am returning and will continue the hunt for something else.

I tried this product because it’s supposed to be matte. Well it’s thick and greasy just like any other over-the-counter sunscreen I could purchased at a much cheaper price. There is nothing matte about this sunscreen and it’s not worth the cost.

Gritty?
This product is just ok, hence the three stars. Like others have said, it has a gritty texture. At first I thought it was pilling in reaction to my skincare products, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The grit seems to disappear so it’s wearable, but application isn’t necessarily pleasant.

This sunscreen is not pure mineral sunscreen because it contains homosalate 10% and octisalate 5%. It is gritty, oily and when I spread it, seems like there's a layer of powder that comes off onto my fingers, and my hair sticks to my face. Won't buy again

I have been using this products for so many years and it was perfect for my skin. Now that they changed the formula, it feels gritty and my skin doesn't tolerate all that. I hope they will go back to the old formula.

This is a heavy sunscreen that is thick and gritty. Has a very granular feeling. Even though it’s so thick, it doesn’t leave that much of a white cast. This would be a fabulous choice if not for the terrible icky texture.

I've used this product for over 10 years and absolutely loved it but with the recent change, I'm not liking it so much. It's way to greasy/oily for me, I wish I had another product to go to, I would change. Would love it if you'd go back to the former formula. Although I'm purchasing it again, it's only because I haven't found another product that I like, yet.

The word matte is appealing when you are looking for a sunscreen , that’s exactly why I bought this ! However , this sunscreen to me isn’t matte, it leaves a thick film on my face. BUT I don’t burn and there’s no smell. There is a slight white cast but overall it was decent but not the best. I also did not like the packaging, should’ve made this into a pump, sunscreen was too liquidy and made a mess. There’s so many sunscreens I’ve yet to try and am still hunting for the best.

I have used Obagi products and normally don't complain about their quality. However, this product has a few problems. Firstly, it stings for a few seconds if your skin is dry. Secondly, it is thick and white and has grainy consistency. Almost as if there is very fine sand mixed in. Thirdly, it has a chemical scent. After the application: skin feels smooth and soft, it doesn't seem to block pores, doesn't seem to form little latex-y pieces after a while. I only use dry foundation. It works well with dry. I won't purchase it due to initially described problems.

Definitely gave me a matte finish as advertised, which is great for oily skin. No sunburn. The product definitely works. I thought for the price there would be something more special about it than similar sunscreens, but I couldn't figure out what it was Bought it once in the quest for finding the "best sunscreen" but I would not purchase again, simply because of the price. My good old standby Elta MD UV Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Oil Free is still my favorite.

This sunscreen really is a matte finish, which might be desirable if this is all you're putting on your face. I use makeup over it, so I would rather have a bit more moisture and less matte. I should have chosen better, I was happy to note that it didn't roll into little balls or crumbs with makeup application as many sunscreens do. This would do well on oilier skin.
