I think the quality of this product is great. However, beware that it is VERY strong. I have used retinol .5 in other brands with no issues. However, this one caused constant peeling (even after diluting with moisturizer, using sunscreen and applying less frequently). If you are new to the Skincueticals brand I would recommend starting with the .3 even if you are used to higher retinol percentages.

This is a reasonably priced product and it’s potent. I have developed major sensitivities to retinol so this product didn’t work well for me but if your skin handles retinol well this would be a great product for you. I recommend starting with the .3 and slowly moving up. My sensitivities are because of hormones and nothing to do with these products FYI.

I like the product. It goes on smooth, not oily. Definitely use it every other day or 2x a week before applying everyday. Skin needs to be able to tolerate the product prior to applying everyday. I do notice less bumps on face. Applying on the acnes does seem to make it go away faster. After I'm done using this product, I plan to get the 1%. Skin can get dry from using it. I suggest putting on a moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated.

Start off slow trust the process.
26 years, combination oily skin, acne prone skin, hyperpigmentation left behind from acne, lives in tropical climate. First time using Retinol start off slow, be patient and trust the process. Start by using it once a week for 2 -3 weeks, then twice a week for 2-3 weeks and move to 3 times a week for 3 weeks. finally every other night, till you are ready for every night use. This has help with curing my acne. Hyperpigmentation fades fast and my skin turn over is much faster. Must be paired with a sunscreen. DO NOT GO INTO THE SUN while using this product. Do not put your face in a hot oven while using this product! (I did this over Christmas)

I have been using retinol 0.5 cream for more than half a year. I have super sensitive skin and my skin was dry and peeling,even I used it for just 2 or 3 times a week. No matter what moisturizer and how many layers of moisturizers I applied on my skin. I almost wanted to give up on it. However I did feel my skin was tightened and I have mature skin. Finally I decided to continue using retinol cream while applying skinceuticals intensive hyaluronic acid next to it. It makes a lot of difference. My skin is not dry anymore and has become firmer. I've been using Retin A for years and it really is the only product that consistently produces results. You will need to exfoliate a couple of times a week to keep up with rapid cell turnover and flaking but that means that it's doing the job. I did have some redness and discomfort the first several times, but I started to apply less of the product and had less problems.
