Many good qualities

Amongst the two other major brand names of healing ointments (all of them equally recommended by doctors) this brand product may be a suitable alternative for those people seeking to avoid petrolatum as the main ingredient. With respect to its application, the VaniCream has more of a slip factor; it glides very smoothly and you have to use very little to get the coverage you need. As for it not being "greasy"? I beg to differ. Maybe it is not grease as such, but then what? It is why I use this only before going to bed since your hands will leave fingerprints everywhere. Being that this is an ointment and extremely heavy, I use it exclusively on my feet, knees, elbows and occasionally on my hands. Highly recommend.

Creamy, Calming and Absorbant

Of all the petroleum-jelly-like products out there, this is my favorite. This is creamier and more absorbent. It calms my skin and restores it to a moisturized, balanced state. It has a bit of a chemical scent, but I don't find it off-putting and I actually prefer it rather than masking it with fragrance.

Great for eczema

After we bathe our toddler, we slather him in vanicream as well as Vanicream ointment. This vastly reduces the amount of corticosteroid that we have to apply to his skin and has been a fantastic treatment option for him in conjunction with hydrating eczema suits. Can't Beat It

I had to switch over to all Vanicream products because of my severe eczema. I also have extremely dry skin. I had been using Vanicream's Moisturizing Lotion, which was fine for some parts of my body but really inadequate for other parts. Patches of my skin would be dry and flaky just an hour after application, and then I'd get itchy and rashy all over again. However, this ointment is the best I've found and really keeps me moisturized, calming down my eczema flare-ups. It also ships for free. What's not to love? :)
