This repetitive movement, in combination with an age-related reduction of hyaluronic acid levels in the skin, create what’s called ‘dynamic wrinkles’ to become more prominent near the eyes, mouth and in the nasolabial folds. Many dermal fillers, while ideal in treating other signs of aging, are often not the best choice to improve dynamic wrinkles because they can make the treated area appear taut or unnatural during facial movement.

What are Revance RHA Fillers?

Revance RHA fillers are comprised of Resilient Hyaluronic Acid, known as the purest form of hyaluronic acid made from a non-animal source. Due to its gentle manufacturing process and limited chemical modifications, RHA is able to mimic the natural hyaluronic acid that gives your skin structure and moisture. This allows for a subtle, more natural appearance. Most importantly, RHA is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movements, resulting in a more natural look and feel. There are three formulations in the RHA Collection, RHA 2, RHA 3 and RHA 4. RHA 2 and RHA 3 are ideal for correcting dynamic wrinkles and folds in the mid-to-deep dermis. RHA 4 is designed to treat the deeper dermis, improving nasolabial folds. Guided by years of practice, Dr. Schlessinger can expertly decide which combination of the RHA collection will work best for you.
What Results can I Expect?
For a thorough understanding of the outcome you can expect, schedule a consultation with Dr. Schlessinger and his cosmetic coordinators. In this consultation, Dr. Schlessinger will help decide if this treatment is right for you, as well as answer any and all questions you might have regarding the treatment. Dr. Schlessinger will perform all your injections himself so you will get the best results possible. Here are some typical results most patients can expect with Revance RHA fillers:
- Dynamic wrinkles and folds will be immediately plumped, creating an instant smoothing effect.
- Results can last up to fifteen months, which is typically longer than other dermal fillers available.
- The RHA will gradually disappear over time, as the body will naturally absorb the hyaluronic acid gel.
What Happens During the Revance RHA Fillers Procedure?
1. If you are a new patient, the patient coordinator will show you around the office to acquaint you with the facility and where you will have your treatment.
2. You will have a consultation in the comfortable and high-tech office of the patient coordinator, meeting with Dr. Schlessinger to answer any questions you might have.
3. The doctor’s office staff will take photographs to better gauge the results of your Revance RHA treatment. This will happen at your no-charge follow-up appointment.
4. The facial areas planned for the Revance RHA injections will be cleaned, and a topical numbing solution will be applied.
5. Dr. Schlessinger will perform the Revance RHA injections. In Dr. Schlessinger’s office, the only individual who works on you is the doctor—no nurses or other staff members administer fillers or other products, such as wrinkle relaxers, as is the practice in many other offices. Dr. Schlessinger is very proud of the results he obtains, and this is one of the reasons he has consistently been voted Best Cosmetic Surgeon and Dermatologist in Omaha, Nebraska.
6. With the numbing treatments, the actual injections are quick and nearly painless, and Dr. Schlessinger uses a slow and steady technique refined over the thousands of procedures he has performed. A very small amount of Revance RHA gel is precisely injected into several areas with an ultra-thin needle. Most patients compare the sensation to a little sting. Ice packs can be applied immediately after the treatment to help soothe any pain you may feel.
7. The whole treatment is less than an hour, and you can resume normal activities immediately.
Are There Side Effects?

After Revance RHA treatment, it’s normal for the injection site to be sensitive or tender and can be soothed or minimized with ice and rest. The discomfort shouldn’t be so intense that it keeps you from your daily activities. In clinical studies, side effects of Revance RHA were considered mild and minimal. Some users experience hypersensitivity, lumps in the skin, redness and swelling at the injection site. Additionally, as with any injection, there is also a chance of bruising at the injection site. Dr. Schlessinger advises his patients to refrain from taking aspirin, herbal supplements or aspirin-like products a week or so before treatment to minimize bruising.
Who can Have This Procedure? Who Cannot?

Revance RHA filler treatments have only been studied in patients older than 22 years old. If you are younger than 22, a different filler option may be your best choice to achieve the results you desire. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to participate in filler treatments, as effects are not known. The best way to decide if Revance RHA is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schlessinger. During your appointment, he will address any questions or concerns you may have and help you decide if it’s the appropriate treatment for you.

The skill and technique required to make filler treatments look natural with minimal side effects is typically only found with a trained physician.
