We’re all used to diligently slathering moisturizers, face serums and sunscreens on our faces every day, but there’s one significant area many of us neglect: the neck. The delicate skin on your neck and decolletage area is one of the first and most noticeable places to reveal signs of aging, including wrinkling, sagging, sun damage and the dreaded “tech neck.”
The NuFACE Trinity Facial Toning Device has long been known for its five-minute facial lifts, but did you know you can also use it for a two-minute neck treatment? Let’s dive into everything you need to know about caring for the skin on your neck using your NuFACE as a microcurrent neck treatment, including:
Yes, it actually is! Neck skin is thinner and has less fatty tissue and collagen than the skin on your face. It also has fewer sebaceous glands, which can contribute to dryness and wrinkling over time. “Your neck skin also loses elasticity as you age, and gravity will cause it to sag over time,” says board-certified dermatologist and LovelySkin CEO Dr. Joel Schlessinger.
Your neck is supported by muscles, and like other muscles in your face and body, they can weaken with age and lack of use, causing the skin to sag. Microcurrent—the technology utilized in all NuFACE devices—is a low-level, soothing current that mimics the body’s natural current, sending gentle waves through the skin and tissues to stimulate muscles. “Using NuFACE on your face and neck has immediate effects as well as long-term ones,” Dr. Schlessinger says. “Right after use, you’ll notice that skin looks more lifted and toned and this lasts a day or so until your next use. Because the microcurrent also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, it will help your skin look firmer over time and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.”
To perform a NuFACE lifting treatment on your neck, follow these three simple steps five days a week for the first sixty days, and then continue with two or three treatments a week to maintain your results. Each NuFACE microcurrent neck treatment should take about two minutes.
Step 1: Cleanse
Oil on your skin will prevent your NuFACE beauty device from effectively delivering the microcurrent into your skin, so you’ll want to make sure the skin on your neck is clean first. Wash your neck with an oil-free cleanser such as LovelySkin Clarifying Gel Cleanser or wipe thoroughly with NuFACE Prep-N-Glow Facial Towelettes before beginning your treatment.
Step 2: Prep
Every NuFACE microcurrent treatment includes an application of NuFACE Hydrating Aqua Gel, which ensures optimal skin conductivity while also providing additional moisturization benefits of its own. You’ll want to make sure the gel stays moist in order to conduct the microcurrent, so apply the gel to half of your neck at a time in a thick, mask-like layer.
Step 3: Glide
Place the NuFACE spheres in position 1, slightly off-center, avoiding the midline of the neck.
Glide the device toward the back of the neck until you hear the beep.
Repeat glides in positions 2 and 3.
Return to position 1, and repeat this sequence two more times.
Repeat these glides on the opposite side of your neck to complete your NuFace lifting treatment.
Massage any remaining NuFACE Hydrating Aqua Gel into skin for added hydrating benefits.
If you feel the gel start to dry at any point during your treatment, you can reactivate it using the NuFACE Optimizing Mist.
