Still searching for the perfect SPF lip product
Looking for a tinted SPF lip product that wears well, is comfortable, and has a nice tint to use as a liptstick sub for outdoor activities. Tried this one in "firecracker" based on reviews. It is decidedly "MEH". The texture is tough to describe - dry and gritty, I guess? And it seems to last ok, doesn't have to be constantly reapplied. But the texture makes it look patchy when applied, even over smooth lips, which makes the tint look weird. Tried it over bare lips, over chapstick, etc. and I just can't get it to look good. Also, the shade isn't right for me - too light/pink rather than a darker red/berry that I was hoping for. I'm half white and half japanese with very pink undertones, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. If you're similarly complected, you aren't going to be happy with the color. I don't hate it enough to throw it away - will wear it for mowing the lawn - but won't reorder even in a different color.

I love the packaging. This feels good on the lips and the coverage is nice and sheer. I appreciate the SPF but it doesn’t last long. The color is not good and looked very orange on me. I was expecting more of a pink tone. Also it is so soft that it broke off right away. I don’t think this formula would hold up to any kind of outdoor activities because it would melt down and make a mess. I ended up tossing it which was disappointing.

I didn’t like the texture of this product. Leaves lips dry. Other than that it’s a good sun protection with a tint of color and supposedly organic ingredients. Hence giving it only 3 stars. Won’t be repurchasing again.

I have been trying to avoid chemical sunscreens after I reacted to an unrelated product, so I was hoping that this mineral based lip balm would work for me. Although it protects as promised, I find it very drying upon application, and although the scent/ flavor is innocuous, I prefer unscented products, so I will not be reordering.

Love the texture/performance but not the Nude color
As another review mentioned, I too did not prefer the nude color. I have pale skin and it washes me out. It appears chalky. I love the Coola Sugar, but I don't believe it is offered now. I like the texture and the performance and will try another color.

I got this for a family trip to the lake since it is waterproof for a good period of time and has good mineral SPF. I ordered the color firecracker. It feels smooth after application but the color does not apply evenly at all. It looks like I put on cheap lipstick several hours before, and then it faded unevenly. Only my 12 year old daughter is fine with how it looks. Initially, it feels moisturizing, but eventually leaves my lips feeling dry unless I reapply it frequently. Overall, I think it’s a decent product if you’re needing a waterproof mineral lip block. Next time, I would get a more neural color that matches my lip tone.
