This is super strong which is why I bought it, but my skin didn't feel clean and the product left a film after rinsing thoroughly. It was a bit irritating which I expected because of the strength, it's the texture I didn't like and I also needed to wash my face for a third time with another cleanser to fully remove this.

I love this wash! It is NOT like a peel. You are cleaning your skin as exfoliating. The more you use the longer it can sit on your face. My pores are small, I have no breakouts and my skin looks youthful. I am 65 and people think I am in my 40s. It is all about the products you use and using sunscreen every day. This is the best high-strength glycolic cleanser I've found. I have rosacea and my skin doesn't always react well to products, but I've experienced no irritation from this cleanser. Some glycolic products with a lower percentage of glycolic acid will inflame my skin, so I think there's something special about Dr. Sobel's particular formula. I don't know the chemistry behind it, but whatever he used to buffer the acid works very well. I use this every 2 or 3 days as an exfoliating treatment before going to sleep. I do the following: Prep by removing any makeup or daily grime from my skin. Once my face is clean and dry, I apply a light layer of Dr. Sobel's cleanser and set a timer for 15 minutes. (To figure out your personal tolerance level, test it for just a few minutes at first. You might not be able to leave it on for very long, but you'll still see benefits.) For me personally, it tingles but it doesn't hurt, even when left on for this long. After 15 minutes, I rinse thoroughly and then apply a gentle, plain moisturizer (with no actives, since I don't want to risk irritation) and go to sleep. My skin looks INCREDIBLE in the morning--glowy, clear, bright and soft. My skin is dry and doesn't normally retain moisture very well, but this cleanser removes that top layer of dead skin so that my moisturizer and any serums absorb so much better. This means I don't need to use as much of other products and I don't have to reapply them as often. My skin is bouncy and dewy for a few days after this treatment, before it reverts back to its natural condition of being dry and slightly dull, so I try to be consistent with applying this product every few days to maintain the glow. I recommend this cleanser to everyone. I am just crossing my fingers that this stays on the market. My old favorite from another company was discontinued, and this has been the replacement I've been waiting for!
