Great starter retinol!
I've been pairing this with the glycolic renewal cleanser and using both is a little too much for my skin. Haven't found the right balance between using this and the other, but will keep trying. The times that I have used this, I have been very happy with the results and would definitely recommend this product especially as a base retinol product to try out.

I love SkinCeuticals .5 Retinol. I have been using this product for the past five years and I’ve never had an issue with the strength or the application. Better to use it once a week for 2 weeks. Then 2 a week for 2 weeks then 3 times a week for 2 weeks and so on. I do wish that the container was a better design as it’s constantly leaking out of the nozzle whenever you squeeze it to apply at night but that’s really my only complaint. I upgraded to a 1% retinol and that was a little too strong for my delicate skin; downgraded back to this formula as I had to take a break after plastic surgery was healing. It’s never dried my skin out so figured I go back through a tube to recondition my skin. I like to use retinol pretty much every night when I’m on a retinol routine but the SkinCeuticals .5 is absolutely the best formula and it has the best feeling/ it feels like silk after you apply it at night. I use it with triple lipid restore on top.

On my 3rd tube. Changed my skin for the better. Fewer break outs and more even and smooth skin. Would be nice if they would change the packaging to one that won’t break open. Second tube kept breaking open and leaking. Start slow and build up to nightly or every other night. Less is more when it comes to retinol. Totally with the price and won’t ever leave home with out it. Might try the 1% next time.

I have used SkinCeuticals since 1995 although it has been bought 3 or more times so 25 years ago you would not have found the product under SkinCeuticals. Yes, I have used this this long although started with 1.0 as do not think they had .05 way back when. Of course, as I’ve aged, and my skin has become thinner I have dropped to .05 and it is perfect in maintainIng fairly wrinkle free skin face and neck. I am a dedicated fan of SkinCeuticals. Start with the lower concentrations and build and my guess you will see amazing results in 6 months continuing as you use this product.

This retinol is an extremely high level of retinol so should be used sparingly (which is great because that only means that the product will last you longer!). I use this product 3 times a week, alternating with the hyaluronic acid. I have noticed a visible change in the fine lines on my forehead, jawline and neck. Background: I have never used pure retinol before. I used to have great skin, but recently I have bumpy texture and acne. I have used the 1.0 one before, but it was too potent. I am using the 0.5 one now. So far, I am using it one or two times a week, until I my face can tolerate it more. After first application, my whole face was swollen, red and extremely irritated. Apparently, this is normal for people who have never used pure retinol before. I waited about a week, religiously moisturizing my skin and wearing sunscreen. My skin was peeling throughout the week. I noticed my skin was becoming very smooth to the touch, and my blemish starting to disappear. Therefore, I know that it works! I just have to go through the hardest part of my skin getting used to it. I will continue to use this product and plan to use for years to come to maintain nice skin on my face.
