Strong but effective
I’ve been using the 0.5 strength which I can tolerate better in the winter. The 1.0 does dry my skin and cause peeling after about three days’ use, but no redness, burning, or sensitivity. I use HA serum before putting this on then triple lipid over that at night to help the dryness. For summer, I use a lighter moisturizer and definitely sunscreen in the morning!

Strong and noticing a difference!
I started slow to allow my skin time to acclimate - 2x/week at first then bumping it up to every other night. I had started with a much lower concentration in Differin but I wasn't experiencing any irritation or seeing any results so I thought I was ready to go for a stronger product. I also use SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic and their AHA Intensifier. I've tried all 3 in one day (CE early morning, AHA 30 min later, then EltaMD moisturizer with SPF & retinol in the evening) but it was just too much. FYI coconut oil works well for the peeling and hydrates quickly to resolve the peeling. Now I'm doing the morning routine on one day and the retinol on the alternating day and that seems to be good for me. Still some peeling but likely because I'm not consistent with the routine. I have noticed an age spot on my cheek to have lightened up significantly!

I find everything that Skinceuticals makes really high quality; the prices are very high, it’s true - yet the products are concentrated, a little goes a long way, and I think they are effective for my late 60’s complexion. I went up to the 1.0 after using .5 for some time, yet I did not find either of them irritating, as I have other Retinols (sometimes even when I’ve been using sparingly to get skin acclimated, I will still have peeling & some irritation). I do have intermittent skin sensitivity (not continua), so sometimes I need to take a break from Retinols when that occurs. As long as I ease back in, I can use this product without having to buy an additional, lower strength.

I use this at night and occasionally in the day under a sunscreen. Though it feels drying at night once applied after washing my face thoroughly, I feel as though my face wakes up feeling firmer and more taut.
