Incredible at diminishing discoloration
This product is simply incredible at diminishing discoloration, while still gentle on the skin. Many products that I have used to fade discoloration wick moisture away from the skin, this product does not and it works.

Price Does Not Match Results
Used Lytera with the additional Skinmedica products that were to be used along with it but did not produce any noticeable results. Would have liked to stop using but the products were so expensive that I continued to use all of them until they were gone. Might work for some people but I was very disappointed. In my opinion, OTC products work the same at a fraction of the cost.

You must be patient with this product for it does deliver results after about four months of continued use. An alternative to hydroquinone, it is safe for long-term use. Packaging is awkward
Its too early for me to tell if the product is working, but I am not keen on the package shape. It is too tall and skinny, so I am always knocking it over. Suggestion - make it smaller and fatter so it is more stable.

Well heres another super expensive cosmetics product making promised it doesnt deliver. Ive gone through 2 bottles (and added a retinol as suggested to boost its performance) and have not had any changes in my face. No overall brightening - no lightening of hyper pigmentation or melasma. Maybe if you have a small sun spot or acne mark, it might lighten it a little, but for overall hyperpigmentation/melasma, it did nothing. But then most products dont and the beauty industry is best known for prestige brands that are overpriced and underwhelm. At least I was able to get my 2nd bottle for $50 off but it still was money down the drain

Ive been using this product since it became available about 18 months ago. It does do a decent job of brightening overall complexion and evening overall skin tone. However I have not noticed any improvements in my brown spots, which is disappointing. Consistency is key with this product. It is good for brightening the skin, has marginal effect on hyper-pigmentation/freckles. I did not notice the brightening effect until almost done with the first bottle. I use it twice/day, on third bottle. My results have not been as dramatic as photos posted on company website.

Does not help melasma
I have melasma, the worst of which is on the sides of my neck. I had hopes that lytera would make a difference. Unfortunately, it made my brown spots red and angry and more noticeable than ever. I tried to see if that is a part of the healing of melasma. That it turns the brown spots red and raised before they fade or disappear but I couldnt find anything on the matter and I couldnt risk that I was just making it worse. It may work on plain old age spots so my rating is on its effectiveness on melasma. I would have thought the treatments would be the same but my experience so far is that it is not.

Didnt live up to hype
I was really excited to try this after reading all the rave reviews, however after daily use (am and pm) I didnt see any noticeable results. I even added in the Tri-Retinol complex to my evening routine while using this, thinking that might help but still no change to my dark spots. On a positive note, this was very gentle on my sensitive skin and absorbed nicely.
