Protective and moist, but truly melts in summertime
I switched from using a heavier, stickier healing ointment from the drugstore to using this at night during my transition to using tretinoin. This is much more pleasant to apply than the ointment. It feels sheer and light on the skin but seems just as effective in helping keep my skin moist. I follow the package suggestion to apply, then tissue blot after a few minutes. A warning to those dealing with summertime temperatures: it liquefies inside the tube when it gets even a little bit warm inside my house (I don’t run my central air every single day because I like fresh air!).

Good Moisturizer - might not work well for oily skin
I actually love this moisturizer as I have dry skin (and I am using Retin-A Micro Gel 0.1%) but Im not sure if it would work well with oily skin. The moisturizer has the consistency of Vaseline but not as thick. It does hydrate though and when I wake up in the morning my skin is nice and soft. I havent had any breakouts from this product yet but I dont use it every night - more like every other or every 2 nights.

I was really surprised when I opened the jar and found that it is more like an oil than a cream. You need very little and it does a very good job of moisturizing. I had a really dry patch from retinA and it worked really well to rehydrate that area. I am also using it all over every night before bed. I just put it on an hour before bed so that it soaks in before I hit the pillow. The jar will probably last me for at least a year because you need so little.

this is basically vaseline, so for the price, maybe not such a great deal. that said, you get 2 bottles for the price and it can last you a long time. in my opinion, eltamd is a gold standard in facial products. this does not disappoint. recommended to me for post ipl moisturization, it has become a go-to for extra hydration overnight during the winter and during the day ay my super dry office. it only take a little - warm it up between your hands and pat on. can be used on face and body and is also good on scabs.
