It doesn't feel like there'd be any type of exfoliating happening when the lotion goes on, but my skin became noticeably smoother over time. My only complaint is that there's no positive "ahhhh" about using it so I often don't - no tingle, no nice scent, no creamy feeling. None of those things would make it more effective, but it would help me justify the cost more :)
