Dr. Daniel Schlessinger

Board-Certified Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon

Driven by Innovation

Daniel Schlessinger, MD, is a double board-certified dermatologist specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatology, proudly serving the Omaha community. With a strong commitment to providing the highest standard of dermatological care, Dr. Schlessinger brings a wealth of expertise and innovation to his role as the Medical Director at LovelySkin, the largest dermatologist-owned and operated beauty website in the world.

Dr. Schlessinger completed his undergraduate education at Northwestern University, where he participated in the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education and graduated with an honors degree in Classics. He earned his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University and then completed a rigorous Preliminary-Medicine internship at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital. Following this, he completed his dermatology residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis, where he was honored to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Schlessinger furthered his training with a dual-accredited fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic surgery at Northwestern University, equipping him with advanced skills in skin cancer removal and facial reconstruction, injectables, and lasers and energy-based devices. Following his fellowship training, he moved back to Omaha and joined his father, Dr. Joel Schlessinger, in clinical practice.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Schlessinger is deeply invested in academic research and product development. At the age of 12, he came up with the idea for a medicated lip balm and, along with his father and grandfather, co-founded and patented the formulas behind FixMySkin 1% Hydrocortisone Healing Balms. Recognized as a thought leader in the field, he has published numerous articles and co-authored several book chapters on dermatology and dermatologic surgery. His expertise extends to the integration of artificial intelligence in dermatology, and he actively participates in clinical research to advance the field.

Dr. Schlessinger is an esteemed member of the dermatological community, serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Practical Dermatology. He is also a regular peer reviewer for various prestigious dermatology journals and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Augmented Intelligence committee and a previous member of the clinical guidelines committee.

Dr. Schlessinger has also been recognized as a rising star by his colleagues. He is the youngest person to have won the coveted “Iron Surgeon” title from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, joining a group of fewer than 40 individuals to be recognized by their peers for their skill in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery. He serves as Volunteer Adjunct Faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he teaches residents about dermatologic surgery and cosmetic dermatology. He has also personally mentored dozens of medical students, residents, and fellows.

With his extensive education, clinical expertise and dedication to patient care, Dr. Daniel Schlessinger is well-equipped to provide exceptional dermatological services and contribute to the success of the LovelySkin brand, ensuring every patient receives personalized and effective treatment.

Board-Certified

Dr. Schlessinger is double board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology as a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon.

Why does it matter?

To practice medicine in the United States, a doctor must be licensed by their state. This license does not indicate what qualifications the doctor has. To be board certified, a doctor must complete additional standards beyond basic licensing and actively keep pace with the latest advances in their specialty to maintain their board certification. The latest advances mean the best options for you and your health!
