I think the lavender and tea tree added to the BP helps boost the effectiveness of each. Plus the other ingredients used for the lotion do not aggravate the skin. I added 20 drops of clove and 10 drops each of thyme, oregano, and birch oils, and this made it even better. This could be a bit much for sensitive skin, so I can see why the company might not include them in their formula. For me it is perfect, and did not negatively affect the consistency. (I also add these oils to my cleanser and toner. They greatly add to the anti-septic qualities to keep skin clear.)
