When you first apply it, it comes on a bit white. It fades after a few minutes. I personally really like this because I am fair skinned and it makes any dark spots even out and blend into my skin tone. I'm not sure how this product would work on darker skin types, if the white cast would still show or not. I really love that it is MATTE! I will definitely be re-ordering this!

Finally! A tinted mineral sunscreen for me.
I have been a long-time Elta MD customer. I was so excited to see this new sunscreen with a "light rosy tint." I have tried so many tinted sunscreens, only to find they look terrible on my fair skin. I am a Fitzpatrick skin type 2. This is such a nice, subtle tint. It does exactly what it claims. It provides a luminous finish that blurs imperfections. It is not greasy. With many other mineral sunscreens, I have had to use a moisturizer first in order to apply them. This sunscreen is just the perfect consistency and goes on smoothly without the need for a moisturizer. It did not disappoint. I LOVE IT!

Love the UV Clear tinted. Beautiful texture and blends right in. This is thicker, almost pasty, and the rosy tint goes on white. Takes FOREVER to blend in. Weird thick/whipped texture when it comes out of the tube. This might be great for someone who is oily/extra oily. I found it to just not work for me. Might be great for someone else. Tint is super white and hard to blend.

I have used the Elta UV Clear untinted for years and have ultimately preferred that to the other options in this line. I have rosacea, aging skin, oiliness, and melasma. This new option, Luminous SPF 41 is great. I worried reading the reviews but enjoy this. It does not white me out. I have light, yellow under-toned skin. I sort of see the blurring impact, albeit it is subtle. I really like that it is sweat/water resistant and provides a matter finish vs the UV Clear.

This is the first EltaMD facial product that I haven't liked. It felt like I was applying clay to my face, and using my usual amount of sunscreen (two finger lengths) was hard to spread on my skin. It left a slight white cast, and I'm light skinned. The cast did dissipate, but the sunscreen kind of dried out my skin. It left a matte finish, and I prefer something dewier. I'm giving one star for offering a 1 oz size that would be great for travel/purse, and for the good SPF level. Will not repurchase and will try to return the tube I just received.

I was so excited to try this new EltaMD sunscreen! I am a diehard EltaMD UV Clear fan (I mix the untinted w/a little bit of the tinted) and also use a sunscreen from a different brand. I didn't hesitate to purchase this when I came out, even though I have at least 4 months supply of UV Clear. and the other brand. I was drawn by the idea of a lighter shade (I'm fair skinned and freckled), something swear proof for 40 minutes, and something a little more less shiny. At 53, my skin tends to be not oily, but definitely shiny looking due to use of rx retinol. It is not dry. I typically use 2 or 3 finger lengths of sunscreen every day. The shade looked nice out of the bottle, but when I put on the sunscreen, it made me look very pale. This is very mattifying (too much for me). It pilled like crazy. It also didn't look luminous. It made my skin look dry and accentuated every little hair and pore. It is hard to blend (this may have been the reason for all the pilling). Thinking that perhaps I had used too much product, I washed my face and reapplied all the usual products. Even though I applied a smaller amount the second time, it still pilled and clumped along my hairline and eyebrows. This is clearly not for me. :( I would be so happy if the UV Clear came in this shade and if it was just a tad less shiny. I will keep the product and use it on the back of my hands. I purchases the smaller size.

Nice texture, but tint is very light
This product has a nice texture and the EltaMD quality you'd expect. However, the "tint" is more pale than rosy, and looks very light, even on my pale freckled skin. I am glad I bought the smaller tube to try it. I am finding that I need to wear a foundation over it so I don't look too ghostly, or wear extra blush and bronzer. This would work best for very fair skin.
