Changes color and smell

I religiously use this product because I haven't found another night cream that I prefer. However, I find that after some time it changes color and starts to smell like wine. I have reached out directly to the company because I know I can't return it to LovelySkin and they claim that it's normal. However, the smell can get really strong and odd at times. I don't believe that what is happening is normal.
