I do not have color treated hair, but wanted to test this out as a clarifying rinse. It does not smell like vinegar, actually has very little scent. I used this in between the shampoo and conditioner. It did not feel sticky inside the hair as vinegar does, and it did rinse out well. When using a small amount of conditioner, it left my hair clarified, tangled but not dry. Perhaps a heavier conditioner would have helped.
