EltaMD UV Restore Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer restores the look of sun-damaged skin even as it protects it.

Rejuvenate skin while defending it with this multi-tasking sunscreen. Using only physical actives, it defends against both UVA and UVB rays in sunlight. Antioxidants provide another layer of protection, neutralizing free radicals from sources like pollution and infrared radiation to help prevent premature aging.

Not for me

Although this is probably a great product for most, it’s not for me. Made my skin breakout in a mere 3 days of wearing. Kept going for a handful more of days, took a break & tried again. Nope, not for me. Unfortunate as those I know who have it, swear by it. I did find it a bit thicker than I had hoped & the tint was definitely darker than me. Guess I’m going back to my cheaper foundation w/sunscreen.

Tint is too orangey

A switch that does work

I have been using ELTA MD sunscreen (ELTA MD UV Clear SPF 40) for years with no real issues. But I have been told by my dermatologist that the ELTA MD UV Restore with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide is the safest and most effective. As the UV Clear is made with Zinc Oxide and Octinoxate, and I saw that the ELTA MD UV Restore Broad Spectrum SPF 40 is made with Zinc Oxide (higher levels) and Titanium Dioxide (a safer ingredient), I decided to switch types. There is a difference, but the UV Restore is slightly heavier, and leaves a whitish tinge that does dissipate quickly, though I think it is more noticeable. However, I feel better protected and that I am not exposing my skin to a possible chemical that may not be “user friendly.” I have also noticed that UV Restore helps to diminish the appearance of SOME dark, aging spots. Overall, I am pleased with the switch. And can recommend.

Untinted Product Has a White Cast

The untinted version is a great all-mineral formula that spreads smoothly but leaves a shiny white cast on my skin. It stays white for the entire day regardless of whether it’s spread thick or thin. A matte-finish foundation or SPF is needed on top to normalize the ghost-like complexion.

Best daily facial sunscreen ever for mature skin skin

I was using Elta MD’s regular daily sunscreen for years before I discovered Elta UV Restore. Although it goes on a bit white at first, that whiteness goes away within minutes and leaves my 67-year-old skin looking dewy and refreshed.
