Find the best burgundy lipstick to create the perfect dark red lips for fall and winter. Learn how to apply it, what to wear it with and more in this 5 minute makeup tutorial!
1.) Remove redness with mineral powder.
You don’t want your dark red lips to pull the red tones from your skin. Apply your foundation and remove any visible signs of redness with a mattifying mineral powder.
2.) If your lips are thin, apply a matching lipliner.
Because you’re wearing such a bold color, you’ll want the shape of your lips to be well-defined. A lip pencil in a similar shade will help make thin lips look a little larger and give you more wear time for the overall look.
3.) Apply lipstick straight from the tube for the truest color.
Once you’ve selected your preferred lip color, apply it straight to the lips for the greatest color payoff. If your color is a little uneven, blot and re-apply for a more pigmented finish.
4.) Swipe on a subdued blush in a similar shade.
Using a blush that incorporates dark red or wine tones will help pull the look together. This is particularly helpful for women with pale skin, as the dark red lips can create intense contrast.
