Need a Valentine’s Day makeup look that’s femininely subtle for daytime wear but can be effortlessly updated for an added dose of glam for date night? We’ve got you covered with just a few of our favorite must-haves to create a radiantly red look. Check out our step-by-step tutorial with Mandi S., a LovelySkin graphic designer:

Daytime Look:

Step 1: Start with your eyes and sweep a neutral shade of color across your eyelids with a broad shadow brush. We are using Glo Skin Beauty’s Eye Shadow Palette in Mixed Metals.

Step 2: Next, using the same palette, choose a lighter, highlighting shade and pat it onto the center of your eyelids with your fingertip.

Step 3: Choosing a smaller-width shadow brush, add some dimension by applying a darker shadow shade to the creases of your eyelids and gently sweep it under your lower lash line.

Step 4: Time to highlight! Choosing the stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in Bronze, use a highlighting brush to lightly sweep the shimmer along the edges of your eyes and hairline and onto the tops of your cheeks.

Step 5: Give cheeks some color with the jane iredale PurePressed Blush in Awake. Softly apply it onto the apples of your cheeks.

Step 6: Add depth and length to lashes with some mascara – our favorite is jane iredale Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara. Apply it to the top and bottom lashes, always starting with bottom lashes first.

Step 7: Give lips a little bit of shine and a dose of hydration with a lip stain/gloss combo. We used jane iredale Lip Stain in Compulsion – you can use the included applicator or simply dab it onto your lips with your finger.

Nighttime Look:

Step 1: Build on your existing day makeup look and add a bit of drama by choosing the darkest shade in the Glo Skin Beauty’s Eye Shadow Palette in Mixed Metals and sweeping it onto the outer corners and creases of the eyelid. Blend with a shadow brush until you get the look you want. Don’t forget to add it to your lower lash line too!

Step 2: Give eyes a little added “pop” with some liner! We used Mirabella Magic Marker Eyeliner in Black and lined just the upper lash line. Wing it out as much as you like!

Step 3: Give lashes an extra coat of color and dimension by applying jane iredale Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara to both upper and lower lashes.

Step 4: Make sure your brows are on point for date night! Using The BrowGal by Tonya Crooks Skinny Eyebrow Pencil in Chocolate choose the brush end to shape brows and then the liner end to fill in any gaps and add color as needed.

Step 5: For a matte, red lip, we used theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Loyal and applied onto the lips.
