Last year, I damaged my skin barrier by over-exfoliating and layering the wrong products for my skin; essentially canceling them all out as my skin cried for help…literally! I had a quarter-sized weeping wound that stung and was sensitive for nearly 5 months…enter Avene Cicalfate+ Serum. I use about 6-8 products for PM skincare routine, but if I absolutely had to ditch all but one—this is the keeper! You really only need 3-4 drops twice a day and it keeps your skin feeling hydrated and protected, and also a great “slip” product for following with heavier serums/creams. And reminder just a quick 10 min survey of your skin using search or AI to learn about your skin can save you months of skin agony :) Cannot say enough wonderful things about this serum. I am not one to ever write reviews, but for Cicalfate+, I consider this a novel haha. Buy it!

I was sent a sample of this product so I knew I would like it. It is pleasing to apply and drys quickly. It does plump my fine lines although, let’s face it, 80 year old skin is never going to plump all that much. I have some dark spots on my face that have noticeably lightened. I use the serum in combination with Avene Hyaluron ACTIV B3 Renewal Firming Cream so I’m not sure which to attribute this unexpected phenomena.

I first purchased this last year when I had a bad bout of winter eczema on my hands from cold weather and frequent hand washing. It was *everything* I could want in a hand lotion: a rich, creamy texture, which absorbed quickly, and left my hands feeling soothed and well-moisturized. Within a week my eczema cleared up, and as long as I continued to use this nightly, it stayed away. Since then, it appears that Avene has reformulated the Eczema Relief Balm with more Dimethicone. I no longer have the original product, so I can't be completely sure, but I immediately noticed that the newer product has more "slip" to it, and leaves my hands feeling as if they have invisible silicone coating on them. It's not bad and still seems to be effective, but it doesn't have the same luxurious feel it once did. That said, it's still a great product, and I continue to recommend it to friends who are suffering with chapped hands and eczema.

I had a very irritated rash pop up on my face within hours of applying this spray. I'm not allergic to any ingredient in this, so I can only conclude it was too drying and therefore irritating to my skin. I've been dealing with dryness and a rash on and off ever since, for 1.5 weeks now. This is meant for moist wounds and macerated areas. I have a lot of contact dermatitis allergies and this Avene Cicalfate product was the only one safe for me. I know others can use this without problems but for me it was way too drying for the face.
