It locks in moisture and feels very soothing. Never ever ever discontinue this Avene! I buy it whenever I find it on sale so that I never run out. There is also a crème version which is not as thick if you prefer a lighter moisturizer.

I just ordered this Balm recently. I have been using the Skin Recovery Cream as my moisturizer. While the cream is great, I think the balm is thicker and more luxurious. I wish I would have bought it for the winter months. Sometimes when my skin feels extremely dry, I use the cream under the balm. I have no pilling after adding SPF and foundation. I have mild rosacea and this product didn't bother my skin. I will be buying it again.

This cream has true balmy texture but my skin absorbes it nicely. On the bad side it gives me headache and irritates the skin where I damaged the skin barrier. Overall, I really disappointed with the whole new Tolerance line from Avene which should be helping to restore the damaged skin but instead makes it even worse.

I applied this only once the night it arrived and everything felt - and looked - fine. The next morning I awoke to inflamed cheeks. Some of the balm got onto my neck and even that area was red and irritated. What a shame it took such a painful experience to learn a moisturizer wasn't right for me.
