Good For My Sensitive Mature Skin
At 74 yo, my old go to retinol and glycolic products were no longer working for my dry, thinning skin so I decided to try something new. Retrinals, retinals, retrinols and Retin A in rotation as directed by my "go to" since 1993 skin care line reps layered with a slew of serums just made my skin look like a parched patch of dry earth even with moisturizers plus serums for dry skin and cutting back frequency on the retinal family products. LovelySkin sent me an Avene sample which worked well so I decided to try this more targeted to my needs product. I just started the Avene Ceramide Balm 2 weeks ago and so far, so good. No reaction, fragrance free, and seems to be hydrating the damage done by the retinal based products. For my skin, I've come to the conclusion that there's only so much turnover you can do without thinning and drying mature skin more at a certain point. Right now I decided to go "minimalist" while trying this new product to give it a "scientific trial". I'm using my fave Arcona Kiwi Cream Cleansing Bar, Arcona Magic Green Ice as an eye area moisturizer, and this Avene product which they say can not be used around the eye area plus my regular SPF 40 sunscreen. Backstory on me: I have been a holistic health care practitioner specializing in women's weight loss and wellness since 1986 and went to acupuncture school, so my diet, exercise and lifestyle are both wellness and skin health supportive.. I also do acupressure for the face routines I designed starting in 1993. Since I am a naturally thin , petite woman who is way past menopause, my estradiol levels are low and estrogens are part of the collagen/skin plumping factors, I will be starting to use an estriol 2.5 mg per pump compounded cream on my face and neck from Belmar Pharmacy who makes my low dose transdermal progesterone and E2 cream after I finish my first container of the Avene. If the Avene goes well I will alternate the estriol face and neck cream twice weekly and after 4 weeks use ZRT saliva testing to make sure my estriol levels are within safe ranges for my age.. I will post again when I've finished this first jar to update and also update on the estriol compounded cream. Hoping LovelySkin will offer an estriol face cream in their own line since the owners are dermatologists. Anyway, LovelySkin rocks and I am so happy to have found them years ago.

Buyer beware
I was really eager to try this balm given its combination of ingredients and its airtight packaging. Avene markets it is as fragrance free - a must for me- so I was disappointed to discover it is not scent free. The balm has a distinctive somewhat strong lemony smell that created enough of a vapor that it burned my eyes. I sent it back. I also reached out to the manufacturer to ask if they could help me identify which ingredient might be responsible for the fragrance but I never heard back from either email or website inquiries. Hope this helps others who are sensitive.

Nice, hydration face cream
This bakuchiol cream is a medium weight and took a little work to fully absorb into my skin. The pump is a little different but manageable. I didn't repurchase after finishing because there are other budget-friendly ceramide face cream options that I like better now. Very nice if you can't tolerate vitamin A creams and serums but want a nourishing night cream. It did not pill when used with my serums.

I like it a lot, except for the price
Expensive, that's why only 4 stars. I'm not sure if it's improving my skin long term, but I like using it. It has no fragrance, which is a must for me, there is no funky smell, and does not irritate my sensitive skin. The consistency is nice, not heavy, does not leave the skin greasy. Another Avene favorite for me.

Avene Retrinal ceramide
The creme is very effective and meantime very smooth and gentle in application. You will see the lightening effect and a smoother skin almost at once. The shortcoming of the cream is not the quality but the packaging of its contents into a jar. Nobody who tried to open it according to packaging turning it to the arrow succeeded to get the cream out . So by making a cut in its cover I used it. Nevertheless I would repeat buying that creme.

I really like layering this an top of RetrinAL 0.1 creme several times a week. It's very gentle and moisturizing. Absorbs well, no irritation on dry patches. I took off one point for packaging, pump is convenient, but there's no way to tell how much product is left.

Beautiful new product from Avene
I have extremely Sensitive skin, and even a mild retinol can make my skin react -- especially my neck. But this beautiful new cream is gentle, unscented, contains ceramides, and quite effective from what I am experiencing so far. I need help rebuilding my skin barrier, and this cream is apparently tailored for that. It spreads easily in a handy pump container -- and you don't need a lot of it to spread on your face and neck. I can tell this is going to work for me, over time, because so far it hasn't irritated my sensitive neck. I am hoping to see some firming and lifting on the neck and jowl area over time.
