The jane iredale Magic Mitt was just not that effective for me -- I wear mineral-based sunscreen every day, and it just didn't work all that well. It might be fine with a typical liquid foundation.

Really convenient Magic Mitt by Jane Iredale
I ordered the pink mitt and I just love it. It is so nice and works so well on my skin and I especially like the control of the mitt on my hand better than the makeup eraser pads/clothes. You can get your whole face and neck clean with this mitt by adding water and wiping your makeup off or just washing your face with no makeup on it, but sometimes I like to add a little facial soap after getting mitt wet and messaging it all over my face and neck. I then rinse the mitt clear and use the wet mitt to take off all the soap. The mitt rinses so clean and works so well that I highly recommend it over any other makeup eraser items I have tried, you will too.

It's not considered a magic mitt for me
It does help remove makeup, but it doesn’t completely remove it and so I still have to use a cleanser to do that. It does help the process of washing your face faster, as it cuts down how long you have to wash your face along with a cleanser to completely remove the makeup, so that’s a plus for me. On the other hand, the reason why I only gave 2 stars is because, it’s very time consuming to wash the mitt. Even though I use hot water and dawn, I still spend forever trying to remove the lipstick, black mascara and black eyeliner. Most of it will come off, but it still leaves a stain.

I love this mitt. I wash with soap by hand first to get most of stuff as makeups, sunscreen, etc off my face, then use it as my last rinse/rub, then use soap to wash the mitt. I found it works best for me this way. I notice that if "stuff" gets into this mitt, it would be hard to remove, I still have some spots stick on this mitt that is almost impossible to wash off. Other than that, this mitt is very good. It last me at least 2 years (or longer, if I am picky about it ...)
