I didn’t find anything special about the Surface mask. It makes for a good conditioner, but I didn’t find it did anything that any conditioner wouldn’t do. It does rinse clean.

Moisturizing masque
This is recommended every 4-5 shampoos I believe, so I added it to the Surface line which I use and am happy with. For me, this is almost too moisturizing, when left on the hair as recommended before rinsing out. It makes my hair too slick feeling to curl and hold the curl. I'm leaving it on as more of a quick conditioner (or creme rinse as we called it in the "old days") for my hair in the shower so it will work to smooth out any dryness, but not too much.

Good deep conditioner
I use this because it’s part of the awaken system, but it works very well. I prefer it to the regular awaken conditioner because I swim and my hair is very dry. Nice minty scent, like the whole line.
