2015 Trends: Cosmetics

2015 Trends: Cosmetics

The hottest makeup trends for 2015 have hit the runways! We’re excited to see fresh takes on the classics as well as bold, original statements for inspiration. The latest looks are versatile, wearable and easy to recreate at home, so don’t be afraid to experiment and add a contemporary edge to your current routine.

A classic cat eye will never go out of style, but this season has a bolder, graphic take in store. Rather than small, retro flicks, think thick, sharp lines that extend toward the temples. You can even add a second line extending from the bottom lash line to create a double cat eye effect, fan a line from the inner tear duct or play around with shapes and shading. To get straight, clean lines, try using a piece of scotch tape at the outer corner of the eye as a guide.

In addition to the cat eye, black inky liner is more in than ever. Rim your eyes with a black liquid liner for the ultimate definition. You can also line just the top lash line for an everyday look or just the bottom lash line for a glamorous, rock n’ roll-inspired evening event.

A well-groomed brow helps to frame your face and adds instant polish to any look. Makeup enthusiasts around the world still can’t get enough of strong, defined brows in 2015. From thick and dark to bleached or tinted, the statement brow is alive and well. A bolder brow couldn’t be easier to fake with Senna Form-A-Brow Kit. This set not only features three shades of customizable powder, it also includes a brow brush and a set of stencils so that you never have to guess on the perfect shape.

2014 brought us a bold, orangey-red lip. While you can never go wrong with classic crimson hues, 2015 is all about the pinks and plums. We’re still loving the Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala, and this brownish burgundy with pink undertones has only just begun its circuit in the fashion world. For a fun magenta lip, try Senna Cream Lipstick Maximum Color in Show Off. We also love jane iredale Lip Fixation Lip Stain in Craving for a Marsala-inspired hue, and bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Lead the Way for a rich, plummy shade.

A smooth, healthy complexion is beautiful. If you prefer to go natural, no-makeup makeup is still on the rise this year. To enhance natural luminosity, you can add a subtle highlight to your complexion with theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer. The silky smooth powder helps to diffuse light and draw attention to your best features. We also love the dewy, fresh look of cream blush. Just a couple swipes of jane iredale In Touch Cream Blush either under or over your mineral foundation can help add dimension and a glow-from-within effect to the apples of your cheeks.

Which of these cosmetics trends do you plan to try this year? Let us know in the comments.
