How to Look Younger With Makeup

How to Look Younger With Makeup

The key to maintaining a healthy, young-looking complexion is, of course, a comprehensive skin care regimen. However, in addition to taking great care of your skin, you can use makeup to create a radiant glow and an energized appearance.

Face

It might be your first instinct to mask imperfections with lots of mattifying makeup, but stop right there! The age-old saying goes, “Less is more,” and this always applies to youthful face makeup. Rather than putting concealer on large areas of your face, use your clean finger to apply a small dot to dark spots and blemishes only. Use the same technique to apply three to four dots to under eye circles and then blend gently by patting the product in place.

Heavy powders and foundations can settle into fine lines and create a caked-on look. Instead of a pressed powder or liquid foundation, try a BB cream as a base instead. We like jane iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream. Not only does it provide lightweight full coverage and SPF protection, it also contains anti-aging ingredients and leaves the skin with a natural, dewy glow.

Eyes

A vibrant, wide-awake eye can energize the rest of your face and make you look younger instantly. Apply a brightening pencil in a flesh-colored shade to your lower water line. This will open up your eye, making it appear bigger and more awake. You can also apply a light, pearly eye shadow to the inner corners of your eye for a pretty, doe-eyed effect. Try dabbing on a little glo minerals GloEye Shadow in either opal or diamond. Avoid harsh liquid eyeliners and don’t apply shimmery shadows all over the lid. Instead, opt for smudgy eyeliner pencils and powder eyeshadows in soft, matte colors. Reserve shimmer for highlighting.

Curling your lashes is a crucial step to add to your eye makeup routine before swiping on mascara. This is the fastest way to make your eyes stand out. Try Tweezerman Classic Lash Curler. This best-selling curler creates beautiful, long-lasting curl without creasing the lashes.

Enhance your eye even more by only applying mascara to your top lashes after curling. In addition to lifting, this will draw attention upward and away from bags and dark circles.

Lips

As we age, our lips tend to lose volume. Thankfully, faking a plump pout couldn’t be easier. Try a temporary topical lip-plumping treatment like LipFusion XL Micro-Injected Collagen Lip. This treatment goes on clear to provide fuller lips for up to 24 hours. Apply it before your favorite lip color to create the perfect base. You can also add a little shimmery highlighter, like the glo minerals eyeshadow listed above, to the center of your top and bottom lip to create the illusion of fullness.

Our natural lip line can start to fade over time, so to keep your lip products from feathering, you’ll need Mirabella Perfecting Lip Definer. This clear pencil will create an invisible barrier that keeps color in place.
