Skin care shouldn’t stop the moment you leave your dermatologist’s office. Even after getting injectables like BOTOXⓇ and filler, your at-home skin care routine should be designed to complement your injections and support their longevity. To enhance the line-smoothing powers of wrinkle relaxers and the plumping powers of dermal fillers at home, SkinCeuticals has formulated two innovative facial serums: P-TIOX Wrinkle Modulating Peptide Serum and HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan Multi-Dimensional Volumizing Serum. In this blog, we will cover:
What if I’m not ready for injectables?
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX and HA Intensifier are part of a new category in skin care: needleless serums. “For patients who aren’t ready for more invasive cosmetic treatments like BOTOXⓇ but still want something stronger than store-bought products, I recommend P-TIOX Serum,” says Dr. Joel Schlessinger, board-certified dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon and Mohs surgeon and LovelySkin CEO. “The same goes for people who aren’t ready for dermal fillers. HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan is a great needleless option to help restore lost volume. While these won’t have the same effect as fillers or Botox, they do make a difference with repeated use.”
The benefits of SkinCeuticals P-TIOX
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX is an anti-wrinkle serum inspired by the skin-smoothing effects of injectable neuromodulators (also known as wrinkle relaxers) such as BOTOXⓇ, DysportⓇ, XeominⓇ and Jeaveau™. “These types of injections temporarily relax facial contractions and, in doing so, help prevent expression lines from forming and deepening,” says LovelySkin Medical Director Dr. Daniel Schlessinger, board-certified dermatologist, Mohs surgeon and cosmetic surgeon.
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX features an advanced peptide complex inspired by neurotoxin injection technology. It helps reduce the contraction lines that cause nine types of wrinkles:
Forehead wrinkles Cheek folds Under-eye lines Inter-ocular lines, which radiate out from the inner corners of the eyes Crow’s feet, which radiate out from the outer corners of the eyes Marionette wrinkles, which extend down the chin from the corners of the mouth Glabellar wrinkles, also known as “elevens,” located between your eyebrows Nasolabial folds, also known as “laugh lines,” on either side of the nose and mouth Global fine lines
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX also contains 5% niacinamide, 5% polyhydroxy acid and 1% laminaria extract. These active ingredients work together to achieve glass skin radiance by reducing discoloration, smoothing rough texture and boosting hydration levels.
Because wrinkle relaxer injections also reduce normal movement, they can’t always be used for certain areas, like the cheeks and around the mouth or under the eyes. Thankfully, SkinCeuticals P-TIOX has been shown to reduce the appearance of five types of wrinkles that neurotoxins do not treat, including under-eye lines, cheek folds, marionette lines, cheek folds and oral commissures (the corners of the mouth). This clinical testing with physicians occurred post-injection and compared wrinkles in these five non-injected areas versus a control group. P-TIOX has now been clinically tested on both men and women, as well as all skin tones.

How to use P-TIOX
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX is meant to be used once or twice a day, so you can add it to your morning, evening skin care routine, or both. Use the dropper lid to dispense four to six drops into your palm and dab the serum onto your face, gently blending with your fingers.
If you choose to use SkinCeuticals P-TIOX in the morning, you’ll want to apply it after your antioxidant serum and before your sunscreen. If applying at night, it should come after your antioxidant serum and before thicker overnight actives such as retinol night creams and eye creams.

The benefits of SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan
SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan is a volumizing serum created to complement the smoothing and plumping effects of injectable dermal fillers. “As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and hyaluronic acid, which can result in volume loss, fine lines and wrinkles on the face,” Dr. Daniel Schlessinger says. “Dermal filler injections can help restore lost volume in parts of your face such as cheeks, lips, jawline and undereye area.” Some popular filler brands include JUVÉDERMⓇ, RestylaneⓇ and Revance RHAⓇ.
SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan helps boost hydration levels, plump surface skin and visibly fill fine lines with 1.3% pure hyaluronic acid, 12% Proxylane™ and 2% lactobacillus/soybean ferment extract. With continued use, you can expect your skin to look softer, smoother and plumper, with more defined facial contours.
SkinCeuticals recently completed a clinical study that aimed to quantify the plumping and contouring benefits of HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan. The study found that HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan visibly plumps surface skin with the volume equivalent of 1 cubic centimeter (cc) of hyaluronic acid.
Study details: SkinCeuticals' twelve-week single-center clinical study was performed on 81 females aged 35 to 65 with Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI. Participants applied SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan twice daily along with a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Volume analysis was done from 3D images on 74 subjects. Using a 3D analysis tool, participants using the serum appeared to gain about 0.7cc of volume on either cheek.
“While nothing is going to give the same plumping effects as an actual injection, it is great to have the SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan as an ‘extra boost’ at home,” says Dr. Joel Schlessinger.

Skinceuticals P-TIOX vs HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan: Which should you use?
SkinCeuticals P-TIOX and HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan are similar to BOTOXⓇ and fillers in that you don’t have to choose one or the other. They both offer distinct benefits, and you can use both to support your skin care goals.
If you’re concerned with volume loss and lack of contour in your face—whether or not you currently receive dermal fillers from your dermatologist—HA Intensifier Multi-Glycan could be a good fit for you. If deepening expression lines top your skin care concerns, P-TIOX is a top option to consider, either to use in tandem with wrinkle relaxer injections or on its own.
