Avene Cleanance HYDRA Soothing Cream is a hydrating and soothing moisturizer to complement skin that is irritated or dehydrated by acne treatments. It is specifically formulated as an adjunctive treatment to minimize dryness and scaling from intense acne treatments such as oral isotretinoin and other irritating acne treatments. The light cream formula nourishes and moisturizes while helping to restore the hydrolipidic barrier often altered by acne treatments. This formula also contains Avène Thermal Spring Water to soothe and soften skin. It is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.

Strong floral smell

I did see that this had fragrance before I ordered it; however, I assumed it'd be subtle in a product that's specifically for compromised, irritated skin. Unfortunately, this has a strong, floral scent. This is the last thing I'd want to put on tretinoin skin. I downgraded this to a body lotion, and I don't even like it for my body. It's fairly lightweight, somewhat greasy, and the scent doesn't dissipate. I adore Avene, but I'll be sticking with their Xeracalm Balm (thick, sinks in, super soothing).

Not for my dry skin

I have dry, irritated and blemish-prone skin - all the things this cream is advertised for. Upon first use, the cream felt great. My skin looked smooth and somewhat matte in comparison to what it looks like with other moisturizers. In the long run however, this product only made my skin drier. It was simply not enough moisture for my dry and irritated skin. especially when used in combination with products such as BP and tretinoin. I am keeping it however, in the event that I end up in a more humid climate at any point. I think it might work better then. But sadly, for me personally, it just did not cut it.

Terrible smell. Super strong rose scent. Only not the beautiful scent of roses. If you're into softer, less floral scents this will not be for you. It will give you a headache and you won't be able to see if it even works.

Best moisturizer for irritated skin

This is hands down the best moisturizer for irritated, dry, “peeling” skin. I have oil/combo skin, acne prone. I’m in my 40’s so I use Tretinoin (Retin A) but unfortunately that leaves my skin very irritated. The only moisturizer that calms my skin and really helps with the dryness is this one!!! I always try to get something new but I aways end up wasting my money and coming back for this! Don’t hesitate! Get it!
