Glad I gave this a second chance
I tried this sunscreen in the distant past, but for some reason, I thought it was too heavy/dark for me (or I chose the wrong shade). Or maybe they have changed the product since then. I'm older now, too, and I think this sunscreen is a good match for me now. I recently purchased it in the "Beige" shade, and while it looks a bit dark initially, it lightens up as I spread it carefully. I'm very fair-skinned, so this actually gave me a boost of lovely color and a nice finish. It looks like a sheer foundation when applied correctly -- evens out my flaws -- and I'm pleased with it now. My skin looks better with it than without out -- and that's the true test. The SPF 50 is the best for me too.

I recently used the Avene High Protection Tinted Sunblock Compact SPF50 for two consecutive days when I was out in the sun for well over six hours each day - no sunburn! The compact is very easy to pack and use. This creamy sunblock also doubles as a concealer. Also, the texture is perfect so your skin doesn't look too shiny or too dry. High Protection Tinted Compact SPF 50
I can have extreme bruising due to medical complications. I use this product to cover these bruises and protect them from the sun. Very easy to apply and covers fairly well. My bruises are a very deep purple. This Avene product is by far the best on the market. I also just use it as a concealer. Great product!

Application tips
I love this as one of my sunscreen/makeup options that gives a bit more coverage of redness and blemishes and is safe for my sensitive skin and allergies. A note on application- when I used the sponge that comes included it seemed like all the product was just going to the sponge. It looked way darker than I expected too. Also was difficult to clean the sponge. I prefer using a foundation brush or my finger. I like to use a small disc that came with a different primer product to scrape the desired amount and then apply it from there. That keeps it more hygienic and also helps control the amount applied for adequate SPF with minimal waste.

I battle melasma in the summer no matter how much sunscreen I slather on. Just being in the Texas heat gives me brown patches on my cheeks and jawline. I use regular SPF 46 facial sunscreen and makeup with SPF in it. I saw this on sale and thought I'd try it but I honestly didn't have high hopes. Turns out, I love it! I have noticed less dark spots when I use this. Unfortunately, this product appears to only be available in 2 colors. However, while this color looked a bit dark in the compact, it blended into my skin very well. I am light-skinned (not fair, just light). I do tan easily. I don't know how to explain this product other than it feels like a sunscreen-makeup hybrid. I do not wear face makeup when I use this. This product is non-irritating to my sensitive skin and does not clog my pores. I highly recommend it.
