I have used various retinol, starting from 0.1 and gradually increasing the intensity. I purchased SkinCeuticals 0.5, and it actually caused my skin to peel, suggesting that it is a bit stronger for my skin type. I started with SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3 Refining + Anti-Aging Night Cream which was wonderful as I had never used a retinol before. And my skin is extremely sensitive. However my skin handled this product very well. I recently switched to the 5% and I definitely see a difference. I am only using it 3x a week as it is very strong for my skin. But already my skin is brighter. I love all Skineuticals products. They are the best!!!

A little goes a long way
After first night of use my face started to flake. I started very slowly with only once a week. Now I use it 3X a week at night and no more peeling. The first round I gave up because I hated the peeling but then I stuck with it and my skin adjusted and stopped peeling and left it softer and seemingly lightened some dark spots. But beware of the strength because it is strong.

I recently, about 3 months ago, switched from another brand 0.5 retinol to SkinCeuticals 0.5 retinol and really like this much better. I only use it once or twice a week and have gotten great results! My skin looks fresher, younger and has a glow to it that doesn't look artificial. I'm not a young woman, so when I get compliments from people on how great my skin looks it's really uplifting! At night I always use SkinCeuticals Resveratrol BE along with their Triple Lipid Restore. I find the combo very nourishing for my skin.

I was apprehensive about using this strength as the retinol I had been using was half the strength. But my skin had no trouble adapting to the stronger product. I alternate each evening between SkinCeuticals retinol and SkinCeuticals glycolic acid. But the morning after using the retinol, my skin looks more youthful--the lines more relaxed.
