This retinol works well and is not as harsh as some because of the emollient in its formula. Word of caution...if you are not used to a retinol, be sure to start with the .25 or .5 strength and work your way up to 1.0

I absolutely love this product! Not only is it highly effective to use on your face, it is actually an excellent cream for your neck! After applying it on my neck at night, I noticed a difference in deep wrinkles and texture the next morning! I use it every other night because it is extremely drying. After application, I wait 15 minutes to penetrate into the skin, then I apply my face oil, to prevent dryness.

I love Skin Medica’s 1.0 Retinol! The very first use and I woke with smoother skin. I have nice skin but at 58 needed an extra bit of help and this did the trick. It's getting a bit pricey but it is worth it
I ran out of SkinMedica Retinol and purchased another highly-rated less costly brand. It didn't seem to do much for my skin. I went back to SkinMedica and within 1 or 2 uses, I got a fine light face peel. No irritation just a bit of flaking. Now that is what I'm looking for, cell turnover. It leaves my face so smooth.

Apply with cream to minimize excessive exfoliation
The 1.0 retinol cream is a bit strong for me in that nightly use has caused too much exfoliation. Rather than switching to a lower strength, I have been using it every few days by first applying a light moisturizer, then the retinol, and then a stronger cream like SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore. In this way, I've been able to go from one to three times weekly with minimal exfoliation issues and will continue the protocol until able to apply daily. I like the SkinMedica Retinol pump container and the consistency of the cream and am also applying it to skin on the back of my hands as an experiment.
