Amongst the two other major brand names of healing ointments (all of them equally recommended by doctors) this brand product may be a suitable alternative for those people seeking to avoid petrolatum as the main ingredient. With respect to its application, the VaniCream has more of a slip factor; it glides very smoothly and you have to use very little to get the coverage you need. As for it not being "greasy"? I beg to differ. Maybe it is not grease as such, but then what? It is why I use this only before going to bed since your hands will leave fingerprints everywhere. Being that this is an ointment and extremely heavy, I use it exclusively on my feet, knees, elbows and occasionally on my hands. Highly recommend.

While it starts out feeling greasy, like petroleum jelly, it quickly liquifies and absorbs into my damaged skin.
