Good retinol for starters

I used up a bottle of this retinol before moving to something stronger. Not sure if it gave me good results but didn’t break me out or irritated my skin. Good if you want something more mild or have sensitive skin.

Non drying, great for beginner users!

I started using this product once a week, and just moved up to using twice a week. This product is non drying and feels comfortable on your face. I can tell it’s working already but it’s minimal results as it’s only been a month. Using a pea size of product for face at night, after HA serum, then layering moisturizer after the retinol keeps your skin comfortable and reduces the retinol purge.

Not for me

To be fair to skinmedica, I just don't think I can tolerate retinol, even attempting 1x a week at this low dose. I get breakouts and weird sores. Just irritates, even if I buffer it with some HAT or replenish. Really bummed about it so using it on my inner arms and belly area lol. Certainly don't want to waste it! I have extremely sensitive facial skin.

Good retinol

This is a very gentle retinol, my husband's dermatologist recommended he drop down to this one from a higher, more irritating strength in another brand. His skin is doing so well, and I have decided to use it too. Very non scented, no issues with pilling and does not burn my face or sensitize it.

SkinMedica's .25 has been an easy reintroduction after going off any type of complex for at least 6 months. I was apprehensive because it had been a short time since a severe sensitive skin reaction to another brand's product, but this was used without any problems. This is a solid product but you have to be careful with using too much too soon. Also, you may want to refrain from using this on your neckline as this gave me a rash there when I did. Perhaps the skin in that area is more sensitive than in other areas? Otherwise, it’s a good product.

I tried this because the amount of retinol was lower since the stronger one was too harsh for my skin. So far I have been able to use it without a lot of peeling. I hope it continues to do so and perhaps I can move up to a stronger formula by the time I finish the bottle.

0.25 Good For Retinol Beginners Like Me

I have been hesitant to use Retinol on my face because I have heard that it is strong and can cause peeling and/or irritation. My dermatologist recommended 0.25 to start.
