Gentle effective moisturizer
I have very reactive skin with mild rosacea. There are very few products that don't irritate it. I use Elta MD AM Therapy and used to use an Obagi product until it was discontinued. I wanted something more effective than just the mild AM Therapy which is a good moisturizer, but since I live in MN I need a stronger one due to our harsh climate. I decided to try the EltaMD Barrier complex knowing if it irritated my skin I could return it. It worked great. I have tried so many products and this perfect. My skin feels smooth, lines are diminished and no irritation. I am very happy with my purchase and will continue to use it.

Perfect moisturizer
I use EltaMD Barrier Renewal every night after Tretinoin (Retin A). It doesn’t break me out at all. It stops the peeling skin Retin A can cause. You can top it with an occlusive like Vaseline or Cerave healing ointment and have soft skin in the am!

Helps remove blackheads
This Korean dermatologist said that cholesterol and some long chain ceramide that helps soften large, hard blackheads. (I know it’s gross) so that when you wash your face, they are easier to melt away. So, I looked up some creams with high concentration of cholesterol and found this.. this works!!! If you have tried everything for your ginormous blackheads, including BHA, AHA, clays, cleansing oils.. include this in your regimen and you will see noticeable difference. My holy grail!!!

I wanted to like this knowing it has ceramides in it. But sadly it was not moisturizing enough for me. All moisturizers from Elta I tried are not moisturizing enough for my combination skin, even in the summer, probably because they are all oil-free, and my skin needs some lipid-based product.

Barrier Renewal Complex
Barrier Renewal Complex goes on light & is completely absorbed by the skin. After a few weeks of use, I started to see a difference in my skin. I am 60 and live in the high mountain desert. I use this product only at night. My skin is firmer, wrinkles not as pronounced. My complexion appears more even. Sometimes, I need a little more moisture. I am thinking of adding another EltaMD moisturizer to use either in AM or PM when extra moisture is needed. I use Elta MD Body Lotion, cleanser, eye cream, SPF lip protector and of course Elta MD SPF Clear for daytime sun protection.

My Favorite Moisturizer
I'm using Tretinoin every night to control acne and for anti-aging purpose. I have oily skin and prone to break-outs. I've been looking for a well-rounded moisturizer that is not too heavy to break me out, while moisturizing enough to help reduce the peeling and redness caused by Tretinoin. The ingredients in this reminds me of Cerave PM lotion, which doesn't work out for me, I don't think Cerave PM is occlusive enough and have suspected it giving me acne. Although the Elta MD's key ingredients seems similar to Cerave PM, it is more moisturizing in my opinion and doesn't give me any more acne. I really appreciate the fact that it includes (so does Cerave) HA, Ceramides and Niacinamide. These are exactly the ingredients that I'm looking for in my moisturizer, and there are few nonsense ingredients in it. Really there isn't anything to complain about. My dermatologist agrees that this is a great moisturizer. I'll definitely repurchase this one (to me this is rare).
