I have tried other serums but only used once and would search for another one to try, probably because I always felt that "it was ok but not impressed." I went to CVS, and this one happens to have an aesthetician and nice skin evaluation thing you put your face in. Well, I thought I did a good job of taking care of my skin, NOPE!! ( Now this is my second order from here for the product) I bought the large bottle for the price of the small. I used for about a week and went back to CVS to be evaluated. The aesthetician was there and we took a look, my skin was PERFECT!! No dry patches and feeling great!! I told her I found a website and bought it cheaper because I am on a fixed income. She was just so happy that she could help me. The funny thing is that I was just looking in that area where she was and we started talking. I was offered an evaluation of my skin and I took it. Best thing ever because I love this Brand!!

Hydrating
I got this as a replacement for the La Roche-Posay Mela B3 dark spot serum because I cannot use any forms of vitamin A right now. It's good and hydrating, though I'm not sure how effective it is long term yet. It's not quite as smoothing as the Mela B3 serum, but it is a good substitute for now and is affordable.
