I absolutely love this sunscreen. Most high SPF sunscreen formula are too greasy for me and I find myself reluctant to keep re-applying per recommendation. SkinMedica Essential Defense Mineral SPF 32 is the best I have tried so far. I am able to keep re-applying when needed without feeling the grease or shine on my skin. Plus the tinted color matches my natural skin tone. The sunscreen does its job to stay put and prevent me from getting sunburn and sun damage. I absolutely love it.

Not for me
After hearing such great reviews, I was really excited to receive mine in the mail. However, it was not the best fit for me. First, I have extremely dry skin and I felt like it took half the bottle to feel enough coverage for sunblock on my face. It seemed to just absorb into my skin as fast as I could apply it, Secondly, I did not notice a bronzing color from it at all. I do have strong red undertones so that could be why. I am open to suggestions for another tinted SPF moisturizer if maybe I chose the wrong one for my skin type.

Great sunscreen!
I really love this sunscreen! It is very lightweight so it is easy to apply and blend in. It is tinted so it gives slight coverage to cover imperfections either under your normal makeup or on its own. And I am comfortable knowing it is offering sun protection on my face where many people my age are starting to show signs of aging due to sun exposure. This is my new go-to facial sunscreen!

SkinMedica sunscreen
I currently use and have used SkinMedica products. And since I use a sunscreen every day I was happy to give this a try. I am 65 and have no major skin issues other than a little sun damage and the sag and wrinkles that accompany it. So I try to be diligent with the sunscreen. I start off with primer with sunscreen add a little concealer for under eye bags and redness then use this tinted sunscreen in lieu of foundation and follow with a small dusting of powder sunscreen. Pros - good for you sunscreen, smooth comfortable nice amount of tint. Gives face a dewy glow. Cons - not waterproof so when sweating in the sun it did get in my eyes and sting one time, it can transfer onto clothes etc and maybe a little too dewy for my skin in the summer. My skin is combo so if you are drier it would be perfect. Will probably use until summer and then switch to a waterproof sunscreen.

I can't believe how many years it took me to find this amazing product. I have extremely fair (with cool undertones) and sensitive, acne-prone skin. I take sunscreen very seriously and wear it every day under makeup or alone. I don't leave the house without it, but most sunscreens don't hold up in hot weather or under makeup. Goes on well without piling that I get with other sunscreens. Alternate between SkinMedica and Skinceuticals tinted sunscreen. Wouldn’t be without as I ALWAYS wear sunscreen, not something to skimp on.

Can cause irritation
I’ve only used this tinted sunscreen for 4 days, and by the 3rd day, I noticed my skin was breaking out in small rashes. I wasn’t sure it was from the sunscreen, so I paused from using it, and a couple days later reintroduced it back. Once I used it, the rashes reappeared again. As far as coverage, it’s a very sheer tint, it doesn’t blur or cover any spots on your face. But, it does have a lovely thin texture. It doesn’t suffocate your pores.

I purchased SkinMedica Essential Defense Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 32 - Tinted for a spring break trip to Mexico. I applied this sunscreen multiple times daily on my face, neck and chest. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I don’t like how it’s matte. I prefer it a little greasier, so my makeup goes on easy. But as I use the tinted one, it doesn’t agree with my foundation shade. I must say it protects skin well though, but I am medium dark skin and I didn’t like how it looks on my skin. I prefer EltaMD all the way.
