I have been using Skinmedica for twenty-years. By far, this is the best skin care line out there. I have used many like so many but these products can’t be beat! Believe me, the extra money for these products are worth every penny.

Rough start
I decided to upgrade from .25 to the .5 SkinMedica Retinol and planned to start with twice a week as indicated. I had been using the .25 three times per week with little to no flaking. My first time using the Retinol .5 I used too much product since one pump didn't seem sufficient to cover my face. Live and learn! I had quite a bit of peeling and flaking from that first use as well as stinging when I applied other products for several days. I waited another week and used just the one pump of product which I later saw was recommended. (It still doesn't seem like enough to cover my face.) I had a little flaking but very mild. After 3 weeks I have just started using it twice per week and I do see a difference in my skin. I will continue to order this and other SkinMedica products.

Gets better the more I use it!
I’m 67 years old and have been using Retinol 1% for over 5 years now. I recently started using the .5% and find that it works very well as I apply it almost every night before bedtime. I receive many compliments on how smooth my skin looks. I believe the .5 strength is just right for me!

Works well
I recently got into retinols. This was a little irritating for my skin at first. I found that it made my skin flaky, but I figured out how to use it. I use a small amount of a very light moisturizer first. I wait until it sinks in (about 5 minutes) and then I apply this retinol. I apply 1 full pump. I let it sink in and then I go over it with a thicker moisturizer. I wake up with really soft skin and no breakouts! My skin looks and feels great!

I love SkinMedica and use a lot of their products. Their Retinol 1% however was too strong for me. My skin became irritated and it burned even when only used 3 X a week, so I gave it to my husband and he does great with it and I switched to the 0.5%. Now I use the 0.5% 3X a week and my skin seems very happy, smooth and clear. Start slowly, maybe 2X a week until you know if your skin will react, then you can up it.
