I have used prescription stuff before and even that had not caused the irritation I experienced with this product. I am surprised at the level of redness, peeling and raised spots I got none of which do not want to calm down for some reason- even though I stopped and have been moisturizing intensely. I am lucky if my skin tolerates this once a week.

This caused retinol burn after just a few uses. I had to stop applying everything except a healing moisturizer after using it until my skin healed--I have never had such a strong reaction. After healing, I have tried working it into my nightly routine once a week and that has not caused the same issue.

Started breaking out (as anticipated) and just didn't want to use it anymore because my face hurt so bad. I probably didn't give it enough time for my skin to get used to it. Went to a dermatologist shortly after ordering this and they wrote me a prescription instead.

Way too strong
My skin was able to tolerate the .25 really well. I ordered the .5 and experienced the worst reaction to retinol. My face immediately turned red, which I sort of expected. But then it got super dry by the next morning and anything I would apply to it face wash serum or moisturizer would burn and cause my skin to turn red. I would only use this strength if you don't have sensitive skin.

I have used the SkinMedica products in the past, and I think they are excellent products. My experience with the Retinol Complex this time around is that at my age --70-- there really was no visible improvement. And although I will continue to use it until it is used up, I will not be ordering it again. I don't think anything short of Botox, fillers, laser surgery or a face lift can really make a difference at my age. I may be wrong, but that is my opinion.
