Not pleased with the unnecessary fragrance and essential oils
I'm a long-time fan of JI products, especially the pure pressed minerals = THE BEST!! I would be happier with this primer if it didn't include fragrance and essential oils. Here's why: I really feel the scents are a wonderful aromatherapy component to products for those with skin that's impervious to those elements. But I doubt that's the majority. I know I'd be a fan of this primer but for this issue. The finish and texture of this primer is lovely though.

I feel like all of the Jane Iredale products are of very good quality. There are 3 different versions of this primer. I have very dry skin and have tried both the Illuminating and the Brightening formulations. Of these 2, I prefer the Brightening formula as it seems to he more hydrating. It quenches my dry skin and helps my foundation to go on smoothly.

I can't decide whether I prefer the brightening formula or the illuminating but both feel good on my skin. Both help my foundation to go on more smoothly. The product is expensive but a little goes a long way.

This smells so wonderful for starters! It is a wonderful primer for my dry skin. I don't wear a lot of make-up, but this has become a pertinent step for me in my routine. I do spend time and effort into skin care, i.e., money...lol...and this is another step I won't go without when applying any make-up. Between this and Jane Iredale brushes, they are top of the line, as they should be, based on the price point, but worth it!

Broke out
I got samples of the other two "Smooth Affair" primers and really liked them, had no breakout, so I hoped the primer for oily skin would work just as well if not even better. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and I broke out after 2 days of using this one. No issues with the other formulas though.
