Goes on creamy. You may need to give it time. It took about 2 weeks before I saw positive results.
I had read several reviews prior to purchasing. I read the 5 stars, along with the 1 stars and I would like to address some of those comments that I read. For starters I was on the fence for this product for the 1 1/2 weeks. It went on creamy (as I mentioned), but did not seem to hydrate (as a main reason for purchasing). Perhaps if it was a cheaper product, I would have given up and threw it away or sent it to the back of the cabinet of "unwanted products." But because it was expensive I thought I would give it more time to see results (and I have tried other another Obagi product and liked it) , I decided to give it at least 3 weeks. Oddly enough I do feel there has been a change and this cream is now hydrating my skin. I am seeing an improvement in my skin texture. I noticed a lot of the poor scores were due to the smell of the product. I do have to agree it does have an odd smell to it. It's not an entirely new smell to me. I have smelled something similar in certain hand creams. I don't think it is an artificial smell they have added to the product. But perhaps the lack of adding a perfume scent to mask the smell of the product. It's not that its a strong smell, its that the product is on your face... next to your nose, that you are aware of the smell. The smell goes away once your skin absorbs the product. For me, the scent/smell goes away in 3-5 minutes. It's not that its strong, but it is there for a few minutes after you apply the product. I am 3 weeks into this product and will continue to use it.

Another Excellent Obagi Product (at least for my skin!)
I'm 41 and have a history of acne and rosacea (and at least one dermatologist would say acne rosacea). I have to be super-careful about what I use on my skin so as not to tip the hydration balance or irritate my rosacea. When I opened the jar, I noticed a slight scent and that worried me as fragrances often irritate my skin. However, I've been using this product for a month now (in the evenings--I use the lighter weight hydrate lotion during the day under my sunscreen) and I've not experienced any breakouts or irritation. A little goes a long way and my skin has responded to the change well. In addition to this, I also use the Obagi vitamin c serum and the hydrate (as mentioned), and the Elta tinted sunscreen. I pair it with bareMinerals Mineral Veil. My skin has never looked better. Then again, I'm forty-one, so maybe my eyesight is changing? lol

It goes on smooth and is hydrating but not the most hydrating moisturizer I’ve used. I’d say it’s perfect for the day time and goes on nice under makeup however I do have to use an oil with it at night if I’m feeling dry.
