Excellent retinol
I like the texture of this product and the reputation Obagi has for good quality and consistency. I also use glycolic acid which I’ve been doing about five years. But the retinal penetrates the skin far more, so this is a must have in one’s routine.

Gentle and effective
I have been using this product for about a month. I had used other products before this, so my face was primed for 1.0 strength. The cream is thick, but absorbs easily and completely. I did not experience any redness or peeling. I definitely feel a very mild burn sensation, but no discomfort, and I like feeling that the retinol is busy doing its job. I do see some improvements in fine lines around my eyes.

Excellent Retinol
I have used retinol for many years (turning 40 next year)- both prescription and medical grade versions such as Skinmedica. I was having issues with breakouts a few years ago and discovered the website cosdna which rates how acnegenic or irritating products can be. I realized that my old retinol could have been causing acne. I went on a deep dive to find an effective retinol that would be powerful, but not cause me to breakout. I was so happy to find Obagi- it scored really well on cosdna. After tweaking a few other products, I have not dealt with breakouts since. I love that this retinol is effective and doesn't cause me to break out.

My dermatologist advised I use a retinol and had me start on .5 and then move to 1.0 after I adjusted. I had purchased Obagi products before and knew they were quality products so I bought the 1.0 Retinol. It took some adjusting to the higher strength but I weaned myself in slowly and just as my doctor said, the blemishes stopped. Bonus, my pores look smaller and my skin is softer. You MUST wear sunscreen when using retinols. Even if you don’t have blemishes, your skin will benefit from using retinols, just go slow and listen to your skin.
