Great for acne!
I am only in my mid 20s and have been using prescription retinoids for a while now to control cystic acne. I have recently switched to the SkinMedica Retinol Complex 1.0 and it works amazing for half the price of going to the doctors and paying for a prescription. It is also a plus for anti-aging. It never hurts to get a head start taking care of your skin. I never got any irritation, even with my sensitive skin, but I did switch over from a prescription strength retinoid. This retinol is amazing and very affordable.

This is seriously strong stuff
The texture has less slip than expected, so keep that in mind when trying to distribute the pea-size amount over the whole face. I had been using a low-strength retinol product from the drugstore for about a year. I then tried a trial-size of a competitor 1.0 product every other day with no trouble, and then I switched to this product without interruption. I still started slowly--3x/week for the first week, then every other day for the following week. My skin felt completely fine. After using it 2 nights in a row, my skin became very sensitive and red, and my skin peeled. This stuff is strong--my skin felt so raw that even water was irritating. It took 6 days to recover, and I am going to re-try with the 0.5, upon advice from the kind consultation that I received from a LovelySkin.com staff member today.

Best Retinol Ever
I have tried a few other retinols, but I developed red burn marks all over my face, even if I only used them once or twice a week. I tried the SkinMedica retinol since I use other products in this line and it fabulous. It has given me a wonderful complexion, without the redness or burning. In short order I was using it four and five times a week.I will stay with this one, it works wonderful and feels good on your skin.

Easy Does It
The jury is still out for me on this one. I had been using SkinMedica Tri-retinol complex which has a lower formulation of retinol. Coming in at 1%, this formula is stronger, and it is taking my sensitive skin a while to adjust. Right now I can only use this product every three or four days, but I am hoping that once my skin adjusts, I will be able to use it more frequently as I do like the results.

This is a serious Retinol product
I have been using the SkinMedica Retinol 1.0 for a couple of weeks and before that the .5. My face peeled and so I know this is a serious retinol product not like the drugstore varieties. I have used a doctor prescribed retinoid and it was very irritating. This one is different. It initially caused some changes in my skin (peeling) but now it is easily tolerated and I can see some plumping occurring around the folds of my mouth area which were starting to sink-in slightly. I am very excited to have found this line of products and feel that they are serious skincare. The other thing I must mention is that the product is fragrance free and there are no added potential irritants which I like in my skin care.

I have been using all of the SkinMedica line for awhile now and would not go to bed without using the Retinal 1.0 every night. With using it for so long can use every night. It is the best some need to build up to this strength but I didnt.

As expected Skinmedica makes a top notch retinol. Ive used several, and prescribed retin A, but this is probably the best Ive used thus far. I have to use it intermittently, because I do get a lot of peeling if used too frequently, but it works so well in conjunction with their other products, my skin positively glows.

At 51 a first time Retinol user! Great Results!
Here is the fact. My skin is 51 years old. But, this product is fantastic! This is the first time I have ever used a retinol product. I had to slow down for the first week and use it every other night and very sparingly followed by a bit heavier evening moisturizer. The results are smoother skin. My makeup wears much more evenly and my skin looks fresh. It has not turned back the years, but it certainly has improved the epidermal texture of my face, neck and décolletage.

I have tried all different brands that contain retinol 1% and .50%
But I will say hands down this is one of the best products Ive tried. I will continue to purchase for many yrs to come. Does not make my skin oily, leaves it felling great along with the other products I use. Im a big fan of skinmedica products. I also use some skinceuticals as well. SkinMedica Retinol Complex 1.0 seems a bit stronger than the SkinMedica Tri-Retinol Complex ES I previously used. So far, not redness or peeling with nightly use. My dermatologist said it will help soften but not remove the wrinkles around my lips (former smoker) & should prevent further facial skin damage.

I like to try things out long run before I write anything about it. I can tell you that the product works otherwise I wouldnt keep using it. You do however have to ease yourself on to the product. Cant start using it daily when you start off. Started with every 3 day for the first month. Then increased to every 2 days. Now I can use daily. I think if you have sensitive skin you may want to test out on small area first. Great product and my skin glows and I get complements all the time.

My dermatologist sells this, so I was glad to purchase it at a discount during the July 4 sale. It works beautifully, but it is powerful. If youve never used retinol, then start with the 0.5 strength. It makes my 55 year old skin smoother and wrinkles are much less noticeable. After a few months of use, I can now wear a BB cream instead of foundation. Its the best you can purchase without a prescription, and for me, it works as well as prescription strength creams. You must use it regularly to achieve the desired results. Like any retinol, if you stop using it, your skin reverts back to its original condition. There are no one tube miracles out there. Any dermatologist will tell you it takes maintenance to keep your skin glowing!
