Video Summary

Board-certified dermatologists Drs. Joel and Daniel Schlessinger are here to discuss eczema in honor of National Eczema Awareness Month.

Eczema is the tendency to have dry, itchy, inflamed skin that worsens during dry weather. When skin becomes dry, cracks open, allowing irritants from the environment to penetrate, leading to flare-ups or exacerbated symptoms.

How to treat and prevent eczema

The doctors recommend FixMySkin 1% Hydrocortisone Healing Balm to treat eczema symptoms. They also share an important laundry tip: switch to Free and Clear detergent (liquid form) and avoid fabric softeners, dryer sheets and bleach, which can irritate sensitive skin. If others in your household use these products, it's important to make the switch for everyone's laundry to prevent eczema flare-ups.
