It feels pretty gentle, and it seems to remove sunscreen better than other body washes—maybe because of the oil in it. It’s unscented, but the smell is fine with me. That said, it doesn’t relieve itching; sometimes my skin suddenly itches while I’m showering, which seems to contradict one of the product’s claimed benefits. Overall, it’s a product worth trying, but don’t set your expectations high.

I am 59 and have highly reactive skin that is extremely dry. My barrier is highly compromised due to health reasons. At first I did not like this due to being sticky. For me, if I let my skin completely dry and I don’t over apply, then it works perfectly. It’s nice to have a moisturizing product that doesn’t irritate!

I first purchased this last year when I had a bad bout of winter eczema on my hands from cold weather and frequent hand washing. It was *everything* I could want in a hand lotion: a rich, creamy texture, which absorbed quickly, and left my hands feeling soothed and well-moisturized. Within a week my eczema cleared up, and as long as I continued to use this nightly, it stayed away. Since then, it appears that Avene has reformulated the Eczema Relief Balm with more Dimethicone. I no longer have the original product, so I can't be completely sure, but I immediately noticed that the newer product has more "slip" to it, and leaves my hands feeling as if they have invisible silicone coating on them. It's not bad and still seems to be effective, but it doesn't have the same luxurious feel it once did. That said, it's still a great product, and I continue to recommend it to friends who are suffering with chapped hands and eczema.
